Editor's Note

I'm back! With my extensive travel schedule, I've missed connecting with you. So this issue is jam-packed!

It's been a whirlwind the last few weeks. First, May 29th ' June 2nd, I was in Huntington Beach, CA for the Millionaire Mind Intensive. Then, this past week, June 6th ' June 9th, I was in Cleveland for the premier Internet Marketing conference, The System Seminar.

The takeaways for my attending were three-fold: 1) the (drum roll, please) premiere of my new 21-lesson f'ree e-course: StrategicTraffic.com (see more in the news section); 2) learning insider secrets and proven tactics for generating and converting t'raffic, and 3) exchanging ideas (well into the wee hours) with some of the top online and offline marketers who have made millions.

As much as these guys had a right to HUGE egos, they were the exact opposite: open and approachable and willing to share and learn.

A big thanks to Alex Mandossian, Declan Dunn, Armand Morin, John Reese, Stephen Pierce, and Jason Potash.

News

StrategicTraffic.com launches: t'argeted t'raffic at zero advertising cost.

As the traffic landscape evolves, I've noticed a curious omission. There's SEO (the optimizing crowd), there's PPC, (the buy your keywords and manage them every month folks) but what about other, strategic and economical ways of generating traffic when SEO and PPC aren't an option?

I've identified seven specific ways to generate quality, t'argeted t'raffic without spending a plug nickel on advertising.

Now, this isn't a 'wave a magic wand' and t'raffic magically appears scenario. You gotta actually do some work, here. Of course, the upside is that t'raffic generated strategically is more stable and less likely to fluctuate from techniques that are OK one moment and then downright questionable the next.

Commentary

What's Going On With Google Lately?

The last Google dance (where they update their index) left a lot of folks (me included) wondering what the heck is going on. As you know, inbound links are an important factor in rankings. And this latest Google maneuver saw some of our links as well as lots of others mysteriously disappear.

Well, with a little digging, here's what I've found out.

Google has referred back to their February database. Current speculations as to why include:

  1. Their new databases could be corrupt.
  2. They are installing new software to help fight spam.
  3. They are upgrading their datacenters with a new version of PageRank.
  4. Or all of the above, no one knows for sure.

Word has it Google plans on implementing a new, patented technology on IP (Internet protocol) addresses and comparing sites more in-depth by their IP's in the future. There's also word that Google plans on updating PageRank to be 5 times faster and more accurate.

Google also plans on considering links that have had a long web presence more valuable than new links. Makes sense, all I know is that Google is making some major changes and that they won't be done for another 3 to 4 weeks. Stay tuned!

How to get a bigger slice of the t'argeted t'raffic pie

You want t'raffic. You need t'raffic. But how do you get it, and once you do, how can you keep it coming, without spending an arm and a leg?

Let's look at the options in front of you.

1. Search Engine Optimization. (SEO) This is where you modify, optimize and tweak your web site to obtain rankings. You can hire an SEO firm or you can do-it-yourself. Here are some helpful resources if you want to tackle rankings on your own:

· Search Engine Optimization for Dummies by Michael Wong
· Revenge of the Mini Net by Michael Campbell
· The Whole Truth about Internet Marketing by Stephen Pierce

2. Pay-Per-Click. (PPC) With this option you research and then bid on keywords. You don't need to optimize your site in any great detail because you're obtaining positions by buying your way in. Some helpful tools and resources include:

· Research keywords and see how much traffic they generate by going here:
http://inventory.overture.com/d/
searchinventory/suggestion/
· 21 Ways to Maximize ROI on Google Adwords Select by Andrew Goodman

3. Other t'raffic sources. There are other ways to generate t'raffic that also have the additional benefit of helping you build your op't-in mailing list. Finding these alternate, yet highly effective t'raffic generation sources requires a more expanded perspective.

This means you're not just looking at raw t'raffic from the search engines. You're looking at others who are ALREADY generating t'argeted t'raffic and then you're piggybacking on that t'raffic'all at little or zero cost.

The pie chart will give you some ideas on some strategic ways of generating t'raffic.

Here's a quick overview of these methods:

  • Viral. Create a white paper, turn it into a PDF Adobe Acrobat document and give it away. Make sure you put your keywords in the document. Search engines can index PDF documents.

  • JV's. This stands for Joint Ventures. Example: you do a joint promotion with another company, cross-promote and share op't-in lists with each other.

  • Other People's traffic. A great technique here is to get a recommendation from another company

  • Linking strategies. The most obvious tactics are using your keywords as links both internally and externally. Check Leslie Rhode's article on Dynamic linking in Revenge of the Mini Net.

  • Submitting strategies. Everyone naturally gravitates to the obvious. Well, there are also many t'argeted directories you can submit your site to for f'ree. For a complete list send an email to: directorylist@searchenginepatrol.com

  • Ezines/articles. A great resource on generating traffic via submitting articles is Jim Edwards's Turn Words into Traffic.

The right approach? A blend of ALL traffic sources.

You might want to experiment at first. The key is to be multi-dimensional in your pursuit of acquiring and converting t'argeted traffic into customers.

Don't try to be an expert at everything, that's too overwhelming. If you're more comfortable with one area (say PPC) then do that first, and then gradually add the other pieces of the pie.

That way, you'll make sure there's an ongoing appetite for your product or service'now and well into the future.

Insider tool:
Product Review: AudioGenerator.com

Purpose:
Add audio to your web site'easily, affordably and increase visitor involvement.

Research has shown that web sites with audio often keep visitors longer that sites without audio. And the longer visitors spend at your site, the more opportunities (and time) you have to sell them.

AudioGenerator.com
Developed by Rick Raddatz and Armand Morin, two brilliant guys I spent some quality time with at the recent, The System Seminar.

In fact, at the seminar, I saw a rather impressive demonstration. Someone in the audience called into the web site and their call was recorded and uploaded and we heard playback, all in just minutes. The quality of the recording was surprisingly good, especially considering it was coming from a cell phone.

Audio Generator overcomes the most difficult obstacles to audio generation on the fly. There's nothing to download or install. In fact, adding a play button adds only 1K to your website, regardless of the length of the audio clip.

The audio is streamed only after the user clicks play. So your website loads instantly and the customer experience is immediate.

As a professional marketer, I'm exciting about the opportunities Audio Generator offers:

· Audio testimonial line
· Talking emails
· Talking ezines
· Audio learning
· Audio tips

As you can see (and hear), Audio Generator adds a whole new dimension to a web site.

SEO Insider tip
: definitely worth it at $29.95 a month for up to 20,000 plays
